Talk

talk

Talk is good for talk and other stuff likely not of importance anymore in two days.
You can always move interesting conversation to a wiki-page with an appropriate title and rework it later. It's a wiki ;)
New date-entries right below this line, please.

2005-09-01 / :) - center-wikidot.com created

MattisManzel: center-wikidot.com was created, the contents built a few days ago on the wikidot.com-community-site was moved here, links to this center-wiki on other wikis have been fixed. No bad feelings towards wikidot and Michal, just our concepts of how to use wiki differ quite obviously at the moment. Be sure to take a look a the wikidot.community-site. Thanks for center-wikidot.com.

MattisManzel: Already convinced? Or something like a feel there could be something to it at least?

copied in message from michal:
Please, stop creating pages like http://community.wikidot.com/listofwikis or http://community.wikidot.com/wikigrimoire on the Community Website. You are trying to apply some page-structuring that is NOT intended there.

For categorizing sites we have pages like http://www.wikidot.com/sites-by-tags and http://www.wikidot.com/search:all and possibly a few other in the future. There is no need to manually create pages and create dummy categories for it. This is not MediaWiki.

Please - if you want to do such things please create your own site. The community site is not a place for such projects. Although it is called "Community" it is still supervised by us. And this is not acceptable that users treat this as a sandbox or place to force their own ideas about Wikidot.

Again - what is the point in editing your "Talk" page over and over again? We do not use "Talk pages" here. This is not MediaWiki. After a few days I again must say - for such projects you are free and encouraged to create your own site. That is what sites are for and none of us shall forbid you this.

MattisManzel: Sorry Michal, I didn't expect you to react like last. It semt so promising seen through my blue eyes. I understand that this is a supervised community so I will create a free one on center-wikidot.com and move the pages I created here to it. I will then delete them. That's not too much of work but before I start I'll let two days pass. No problem if you should change your mind, neither a problem if not. There is enough space on wiki for everyone, partly due to your excellent work on wikidot.
Excuse my seemingly aggressive approach, it has its origin in the urgency to create a wikilandia-wide fabric. And this is not only Mediawiki, this is wikilandia.
Thanks again for all the fish.

2006-08-25 / rss-feed

MattisManzel: Where is the rss-feed of the recent changes of wikidot.com-community-site? I need it to backlink it on each wiki-node of the other wiki-hives. Thanks.

michal frackowiak: hi, click on the Recent changes and the feed is exported from this page. But… I was trying to read sth about your project and do not really get it apart from the fact that you put some summary pages to online Wikis that link to other Wikis. Is there any infrastructure behind it? So far I do not think there should be a page like this at the community site here. It does nothing imho, is difficult to understand and confuses users. So I would recommend starting your own Site. Or convince me ;-)
cheers.

MattisManzel: Well, I'll have to try on the latter then. Later ;) You will give me a bit of time to convince you, will you?
Found the rss, thanks. To the right in the adress-bar when opening recent changes, like on wikipedia, I should have found out by myself. Another question before I can node wikidot.com: What is the engine here called? On en-wikipedia: comparison of wiki-farms it says "heavily modified Text_Wiki engine", that's a bit long for such a smart piece of software - ''engine: wikidot''?
Thanks for trying to read about my project. It's obviously not well explained enough yet. I won't do now, rather let's see if our minds resonate in the forthcoming weeks when - hopefully - there will be some wikis sprouting on wikidot (and other wiki-hives). Lemme put some links instead. Did you look at wiki-net? Try google:wikinode. And about running the forum directly on the wiki (which is a different issue), it works nicely on chonqed-wiki: wiki-forum for example. I moved your sign to the beginning of your contribution: First you see who is talking, then you hear the person's word. cheers back (on free software).
